In a world filled with information overload, having a clear mindset is an underrated skill. It takes practice and perseverance to build a strong mindset as it is not something you are born with. It has to be developed and learned.

You cannot live a happy and fulfilling life if you don’t control what you feed your mind.

FIX YOUR MIND, FIX YOUR LIFE.

There are two aspects to fixing your mindset:

  1. Your thoughts
  2. Your actions

You do what you think and you think what you do. Your actions are a cue for your subconscious mind of who you are.

Let us begin with your thoughts. Your thoughts are controlled by the type of content you consume. First, you must understand that the world we live in today if feeding on over-consumption. Social media is like junk food to the mind. It is a double-edged sword that can work in your favour if you have built a strong mind. If not, it can make you miserable. Social media apps are designed to keep you hooked onto their platform for as long as they can. By providing unlimited content, they hope that you scroll on their apps long enough to be exposed to advertisements that give them recurring revenue.

Social media leverages weak minds to keep them in a constant state of consumption until it becomes a part of their identity. Ever wonder why you are still scrolling on useless, mind-numbing content even though you don’t want to?

Yes, that is the power of social media. It digs deep into the human psyche and makes you an addict. Thus, this vicious cycle of degeneracy needs to be broken.

Now comes the actions part. Start with your smartphone. Delete all apps like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and the like. You do not need to constantly look at the part of people’s lives that only show the perfectly clicked, well edited, best moments of their days/lives to make you feel like sh*t about your own. A good rule of thumb is that if it’s not making you money or helping you move closer to your goals, don’t use it.

Once you get rid of this, you will realise that you suddenly have a lot more time in hand. Now, its time to start working on yourself. If you need to improve your health, start with intermittent fasting, cutting out junk food and lifting weights. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Then, start working on your hobbies and ideas that you otherwise never pursued because you had “no time” before.

Follow these two basic steps in order to improve your mindset and thus improve your life. Every step that you take in the right direction will further motivate you towards next best one and compound your returns. This will eventually lead you to becoming the best version of yourself.

You cannot contribute positively to the society if you do not fix yourself first.

Good luck and get cracking!

Wishing you all a Happy New Year.
